Why Cherry Pie Chapel?
A friend had been exploring purchasing a defunct church. We spoke about our visions of the perfect welcoming church, and I kept coming back to a community of inclusive love, joy, and dessert. I wanted people to experience guilt-free joy. No calorie counting. No working off the goodness or complicated math to allow for enjoyment.
Cherries were an acquired taste for me. I can’t stand synthetic cherry flavours so I assumed that cherries weren’t for me. It took a while for me to appreciate the tartness of real cherries. Now I adore cherry desserts or snacking on them on summer nights.
Cherry pies are delicious, but goodness, are they time-consuming!
They seemed like the perfect metaphor for my spiritual journey.
The experience involved exploring my deep-seated beliefs, removing pits of doubt and despair, mixing in new ideas, and crafting a package for me to understand and share my learnings.
At Cherry Pie Chapel, I believe each person’s relationship with the Divine is unique and deserves to be honoured.
